This strip was inspired by two things:
2) A baby robin we watched grow up in our back yard.
I rescued the baby robin when it prematurely flew out of it’s nest. I caught it and pit it back in the tree it was born in.
But the baby bird was only a week old. Michael Rotondo is 30 years old. And he’s been living with his parents for 8 years.
I got the idea to merge the two. An adult robin who’s been living with his parents for 8 years.
Beak like a gull! Older they are, the harder they fall.
The beak is just me whipping out a bird concept too quickly. Robin beaks are actually quite slender (but not as humorous)
After 8 years, it is definitely time to leave the nest!
And build his own
This looks like “touch love”
I really meant “tough” love. “Touch love” is something else entirely. Could still get you kicked out of places.
Oddly enough, I didn’t even see it as “Touch”. But now that you’ve pointed it out, I CAN’T GET IT OUT OF MY MIND!!!!
Yep! That bird needs to fly…
What’s amazing is that he’s willing to appear in a comic strip and totally embarrass himself.
